I’ve now read two people casting shade on what I will admit is Frank’s somewhat greasy way of saying “I didn’t expect to see a young pretty woman” about Mrs. Weston to Emma at first. But I get a little offended at that. I– She’s not that old, and I bet she is pretty. Like, are you telling me you don’t think Mrs. Weston’s pretty?
And then some people almost want to suggest he doesn’t really love Mrs. Weston. So, I’m sorry, if you don’t love Mrs. Weston? I mean, they must think he’s a serial killer or something. I mean, of course he loves Mrs. Weston. It’s Mrs. Weston. She’s lovely. I mean, of course he loves Mrs. Weston. I mean, what the hell? Of course he loves–
But I just wanted to say that about her being pretty. I’m quite sure she’s pretty. So don’t even suggest she’s not. It was maybe a little– a little over the top way to say it, but I also don’t– I’ll say it this way: I don’t think he would have said it if it would have rang [sic] as untrue, because he’s also smart.
So, he couldn’t know her then, but he wasn’t saying anything about knowing her. He just said she was pretty, and young, and yeah, it sounds a bit much, but I– can we all agree she– Look, what? Are you saying she’s not pretty? I don’t understand. I don’t–
Why don’t you think she’s pretty?
I’m very willing to believe Miss [sic] Weston is pretty. And let’s say that she went to Emma—she went to Emma at five, and she was 21—that would make her what, like, 36? 37? That’s not that old. You can still be very pretty, I’m sorry, at 36 and thir– I was gorgeous at 36. I was never prettier. My mom said the same thing. I mean, she was always way more beautiful than me, but she said her 30s and even early 40s– she- she was prettier than she’d ever been and she was confident enough to– not to be self-conscious. You know what I mean? Mrs. Weston is pretty. I’m just laying that law down now. Mrs. Weston is pretty. Don’t add that into Frank’s lies. I’m sorry. No. We’re gonna fight.
